Roles and responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse in the Endoscopy Unit at Aman Hospital, you will play a crucial role in assisting with endoscopic procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients, and collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to provide excellent care.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation, performance, and monitoring of endoscopic procedures.
Ensure the patient’s comfort and well-being throughout the procedure.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Provide education to patients regarding endoscopy procedures and post-procedure care.
Monitor vital signs and assist in patient recovery post-procedure.
Sterilize and manage endoscopy equipment, ensuring all infection control protocols are followed.
Collaborate closely with physicians, technicians, and other healthcare staff to deliver comprehensive care.
Provide patient assessments and assist with pre-procedure evaluations.
Adhere to hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory guidelines.
Patient Care
Assessing Patients: Conduct initial assessments of patients' health by taking vital signs, medical histories, and observing physical conditions.
Administering Medications: Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and established protocols.
Monitoring Patients: Observe and monitor patients' physical, emotional, and mental well-being, documenting any changes in their condition.
Providing Direct Care: Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility assistance for patients who need help.
Developing and Implementing Care Plans
Creating Care Plans: Work with the healthcare team to create personalized care plans that meet the specific needs of each patient.
Updating Care Plans: Regularly update care plans based on patient progress or changes in their condition.
Evaluating Effectiveness: Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of treatments and interventions, modifying care as needed.

Desired candidate profile

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
At least 2-5 years of clinical experience in Endoscopy or relevant nursing specialties.
Valid Nursing License in Qatar or eligibility to obtain a license with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP).
Strong knowledge of endoscopy procedures, equipment, and patient care practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
Patient Education and Support
Teaching Patients and Families: Educate patients and their families about health conditions, treatment options, recovery processes, and prevention strategies.
Discharge Planning: Provide education and support to patients being discharged from the hospital, including post-discharge instructions, medication management, and follow-up care.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: Counsel patients on lifestyle changes, such as nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management.
Collaboration with Healthcare Team
Working with Physicians: Collaborate with doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans.
Communicating Patient Information: Communicate significant changes in patients’ conditions to the healthcare team, ensuring prompt and appropriate action is taken.
Participating in Rounds: Attend rounds with other medical professionals to review patient progress, discuss care plans, and make necessary adjustments.
Assisting with Procedures
Preparing Patients: Prepare patients for medical procedures, ensuring they understand what will happen and providing emotional support.
Performing Procedures: Assist with or perform medical procedures, such as wound care, catheter insertion, blood draws, and IV line placements.
Monitoring During Procedures: Monitor patients closely during procedures or surgeries to ensure their safety and comfort.
