ABOUT DESCARTES UNDERWRITING
Descartes was born out of the conviction that the everincreasing complexity of risks faced by corporations governments and vulnerable communities calls for a renewed approach in insurance. Our team brings together industry veterans from the most renowned institutions (AXA SCOR Swiss Re Marsh Aon ...) and scientists on top of their field to bring underwriting excellence. After 6 years of existence Descartes has secured a leading position in parametric insurance for weather and climaterelated risks utilizing machine learning realtime monitoring from satellite imagery & IoT. After a successful Series B raise of $120M USD we launched Descartes Insurance a full stack insurer licensed to underwrite risk by the French regulator ACPR. With a growing corporate client base (400 and counting) our diverse team is headquartered in Paris and operates out of our 18 global offices in North America Europe Australia Singapore Hong Kong and Japan. Descartes is trusted by a panel of Arated (re)insurers to carry out its activities.
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
As part of our strong growth we are looking for an Innovation & data owner to reinforce the R&D team.
In particular she/he will:
- Starting with our Cyber product and to be replicated on other specific products already launched by Descartes;
- Contribute to the product innovation roadmap in partnership with all stakeholders (strategy sales underwriting modelling legal );
- Maintain adapt and improve current product offerings in close cooperation with internal stakeholders (modellers underwriters business developers ...);
- Conduct indepth analysis of market environments (market cycles wordings competition suppliers technological enablers operations ...);
- Work with the modelling team and act to facilitate the development of new products for perils (from ideation to commercialization) including in the management of our business and contractual relationship with data providers;
- Contribute to the commercial success of new products through the development of partnerships preparation of commercial & marketing materials ... ;
- Prepare reporting and interactions with senior management;
- Assist in miscellaneous tasks as requested by your manager;
- Take on responsibilities as both you and the company develop.
ABOUT YOU
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- 0 2 years of experience within fastpaced environments (strategy consulting startup banking / M&A ...);
- Graduated from a Tier1 Business or Engineering school.
SKILLS
- Eye for quality autonomous and attention to detail;
- Excellent communication (written and verbal);
- Professional English (written and verbal);
- Proficiency in MS office (Powerpoint Excel).
