Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Landscape Architect I to be based in New York NY or in the surrounding area.
Requirements and responsibilities for this position will include:
- Understanding NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
- Preparing specifications reports and related data tables.
- Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
- Preparing reviewing and approving drawings as required.
- Under some supervision may complete design assignments of moderate complexity.
- Introduced to the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and disciplineassociated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices standards and procedures.
Qualifications :
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA / BS or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Degree in Landscape Architecture or a related field.
- Valid U.S. Drivers License
- Due to the nature of work US Citizenship is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Be knowledgeable with NYC DOT Standard Specifications and Standard Details of Construction specific to pedestrian ramps and the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)Standards for Accessible Design experience.
- Be proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel Bluebeam or Adobe Photoshop and have experience in obtaining field measurements and preparing site plans.
- Physically able with or without an accommodation to work in indoor and outdoor environments with uneven terrain variable outdoor conditions including heat cold dust and noise.
- Excellent business writing analytical interpersonal organizational and time management skills as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines.
- Limited familiarity with codes permits and software applications related to the discipline.
- Intermediate understanding of the purpose and use of vendor documents in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
- Performing basic architectural/engineering calculations.
- Preparing specifications reports and related data tables.
- Maintaining liaison with design and drafting groups.
- Preparing reviewing and approving drawings as required.
- Under the direction of the Supervising Architect may perform technical assignments of moderate complexity within approved schedules and budgets.
- May coordinate technical and administrative activities with employees in other disciplines and other departments participating on an assigned project.
- May assist in the training and evaluation of assigned architectural and design/drafting personnel.
Additional Information :
- This role requires frequent travel between job sites during the workday. Milage / gas will be reimbursed.
- Relocation is not available for this position
