Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Steel Estimator to join our team. As a Structural Steel Estimator you will play a crucial role in the success of our projects by providing accurate and competitive estimates for structural steel and related components. You will work closely with project managers engineers and other team members to ensure that all project costs are accurately assessed and aligned with the client s expectations.
- Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel projects including material labor and equipment costs.
- Review and analyze project drawings specifications and contract documents to determine the scope of work.
- Collaborate with design engineers project managers and subcontractors to ensure accurate bid preparation.
- Evaluate and select suppliers and subcontractors for material procurement and specialty work.
- Provide assistance to project management team to procure materials from suppliers.
- Develop and maintain estimating databases ensuring they are up to date with current market trends and material costs.
- Conduct site visits as needed to assess project requirements and verify estimates.
- Prepare and submit bids to clients ensuring timely and accurate completion.
- Assess and calculate labor material and equipment quantities as well as subcontractor costs.
- Work within tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Track and monitor project costs throughout the duration of the project.
- Participate in prebid and postbid meetings with clients and other stakeholders.
- Provide technical assistance to the project management team as required.
Requirements
Requirements/Skills Needed:
- Proven experience as a Structural Steel Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or steel fabrication industry.
- Strong knowledge of structural steel construction practices materials and processes.
- Proficient in using estimating software (e.g. Bluebeam or similar tools).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specification.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in cost estimation.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.

Setup and Location: Hybrid
Work Schedule: 9:00AM to 6:00PM (AU Time) 6:00AM to 3:00PM (PH)

Job Responsibilities and Requirements: Technical: At least 5-7 years + postgraduate experience. Bachelor of Structural or Civil Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia essential. High level of competence in the use of Strand7 (nice-to-have), and Space Gass (required). Highly skilled at producing neat, auditable, hand calculation and calculations in Microsoft Excel, Mathcad or similar software. Ability to create engineering reports. Experienced in designing to AS4100 and relevant Australian Standards (must-have). Competence in using Permissible Stress techniques for analysis as well as Limit State Design techniques. Experience with the design of Industrial structures is desirable e.g. large workshops, material handling, and processing plants; High degrees of competence in the design of concrete and steel structures. Strong organisational and system ability that is following structures for work flows, numbering and filing. Highly competent problem solver. Sound understanding of construction principles and methods. Personal: Ability to deliver quality projects concurrently in an efficient manner. Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written. Team player, experienced with multi-disciplinary teams. Nice to Haves: CPEng or eligible. Registered Professional Engineer QLD (RPEQ), or eligible. Experience in working for engineering consultancies. Experience in studies and the level of design required for these. Understanding in the design of mine site structures such as conveyors, process plant structures, materials handling structures and large workshops. Experience in reviewing and modifying existing structures for upgrades and or remediation.
