Job Description

Hybridbased position in our Chicago IL office. 

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a fulltime basis. No sponsorship is available for this position.

Ramboll is seeking a highly motivated Environmental Consultant to join the firm! We invite you to bring your strong analytical abilities into play as you evaluate contamination and regulatory compliance risks and other environmental health and safety issues.

As our new Consultant you will be part of a dynamic team providing stateoftheart scientific technical and strategic risk management assistance to an international client base. You will split your time between officebased work including reviewing projectrelated materials and writing reports and site visits (including some local/regional travel).

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Completing environmental site assessments of commercial and industrial sites that will require travel to industrial and commercial facilities (typically one day in duration) including both local and nonlocal travel.
  • Completing limited environmental compliance reviews of industrial sites by reviewing and abstracting regulatory requirements for multimedia environmental compliance.
  • Reviewing site investigation reports and providing conclusions and opinions related to the extent of contamination recommendations and development of scopes of work for site investigation activities.
  • Preparation of technical reports that effectively communicate (summarize) site findings.
  • Supporting multiple projects and meeting highquality standards on project deliverables.

About you

  • A minimum of a BA or BS in Geology Engineering (Civil Environmental Chemical or Geologic Engineering) Environmental Science or EnvironmentallyRelated Field from an accredited institution and have a minimum of 2 years of experience in environmental consulting.  Masters degrees are welcomed but not required.
  • An understanding of the Phase I ESA requirements and the due diligence process.  Experience working within the Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) process is a plus but not required.
  • Possess knowledge of multimedia environmental compliance topics and a general understanding of rules and regulations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) Clean Water Act (CWA) Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) Spill Prevention Control and Counter Measure (SPCC) National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Emergency Plan and Community RighttoKnow (EPCRA).
  • Willingness/ability to travel up to 30% of the time on average during the year and possess a valid drivers license. Travel may include overnight stay and may be out of state. Travel duration is typically 12 days depending upon the specific requirements of each project.
  • The physical requirements of this position may include the need for climbing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching standing/sitting/walking pushing/pulling and lifting up to 40 lbs. In certain situations this position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold); high noise levels to hazards such as a proximity to moving machine parts and moving vehicles electrical current and exposure to chemicals. Employees may be required to take specific training and to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) on some occasions.

At Ramboll your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting this role is likely to be compensated at an annual base salary between $71000 $73291.  Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range depending on numerous factors including experience geographical location internal equity market conditions education/training and skill level and does not include bonuses overtime or other forms of compensation or benefits.
