Job Description

Were looking for a persistent ambitious coachable Sales Representative located in Nashville TN. Armed with your business acumen and superb interpersonal skills you are right on the frontline generating sales negotiating contracts and contributing to the financial success of our company. This is an exciting opportunity to develop innovate strategies to achieve sales goals and make meaningful connections with our customers.

You will oversee the sales process by accepting delegated selling responsibilities for new and existing customer relationships and negotiate multiyear annual and spot agreements with our customers. What you will be doing:

  • Soliciting freight and growing the business from existing customers and be capable to explore and research emerging markets
  • Originating Grain purchases; working with logistics staff on strategies to maximize revenue thru team communication fleet utilization and execution
  • Executing and managing contracts including signing and execution of terms conditions and delivery
  • Adding new business accounts to manage/service
  • Interacting with current and potential customers and understanding their requirements
  • Conducting client visits and meetings as determined by segmentation ratings for all accounts
  • Understanding customer needs and use a consultative approach that includes asking questions and challenging the status quo
  • Receiving inbound calls and assisting other commercial groups in servicing the customer base
  • Collecting and analyzing data information & market intelligence pertaining to a customers requirements 
  • Preparing rate quotes and proposals and follow thru with negotiation 
  • Using CRM tools and system to document all assigned accounts and track success
  • Identifying accounts that are underperforming and develop a marketing strategy to correct
  • Attending different industry and customer functions and make presentations as requested
  • Supporting department activities with regular and prompt attendance

Qualifications :

What were looking for:

  • Bachelors degree required
  • 23 years of logistics experience in barging or other transportation industries preferred; and knowledge of river transportation and distribution a plus
  • Must be able to travel via car or air up to 1015% of the time
  • Effective interpersonal oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization
  • Strong decision making contract negotiation and conflict management skills
  • Ability to influence and manage all stakeholder relationships within and outside Barge
  • Diverse knowledge of how the company generates revenue and creates profitability
  • Strong organization skills attention to detail and a bias towards action
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; proficiency in PeopleSoft iLog and Power BI preferred
  • Highly coachable with ability to take direction and willingness to assist where needed and take on new tasks
  • Ability to work effectively both autonomously and in a team environment
  • Ability to read/analyze domestic and global industry information
  • Comfortable working in a competitive environment and having ideas challenged
