Job Description

Main Responsibilities

Research analysis and drafting

  • Contribute to reports covering various trends in the global steel or shipbuilding sector and/or regarding industrial decarbonisation.
  • Participate in the analysis of policy trends across various areas including competition subsidies and other government supports and trade affecting the steel and/or shipbuilding sector as well as industrial decarbonisation and to draft policy recommendations.
  • Draft policy documents and analytical reports as required in the Steel Committees or Shipbuilding Committees Programme of Work and Budget the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity and/or the Climate Club Work Programme.

Meeting representation and liaison

  • Participate in the planning and coordination of activities associated with the different areas of work including meetings/workshops in the context of the OECD Steel and Shipbuilding Committee the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity and the execution of the Climate Club Work Programme.
  • Present the work at the OECD Steel or Shipbuilding Committee the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity Climate Club meetings and other relevant meetings and workshops.
  • Assist with the preparation and organisation of OECD meetings workshops and other events.
  • Establish and maintain professional contacts with government delegates and key external organisations.
  • Keep abreast of relevant policy developments and discussions in member economies and participate in missions as required.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • An advanced university degree in economics international relations engineering sciences or a related subject.

Professional Background

  • A minimum two years experience in applied economic and/or policy analysis preferably within a context relevant to issues regarding the steel or shipbuilding sectors and/or industrial decarbonisation. 
  • Experience in projectbased working methods and management preferably in an international context.
  • Excellent understanding of industry sector dynamics will be key for this position.
  • Proven analytical abilities and excellent writing skills as demonstrated in past work products (analytical reports and/or published papers).
  • Experience with international collaboration in particular regarding industry related issues is an asset.

Tools

  • Experience with econometric software databases and statistical packages would be an asset.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and a knowledge of or a willingness to learn the other.

Contract Duration

  • 13month fixed term appointment with the possibility of renewal.
