General Summary
Under moderate supervision the Radiological Technologist I will perform radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The employee will demonstrate a professional approach in their work with emphasis on patient care and in their technical abilities to complete the requested exams promptly while still maintaining patient safety. Be responsive in the need to use proper radiation safety principles both for the safety of the patient as well as themselves and coworkers. Patients served include infant through adultgeriatric.

Reporting Relationships
Reports directly to the Manager of Radiology Services. No direct supervision; requires a complete self starter; monitoring schedule following imaging protocols necessary to obtain desired results. Functions under the direction of the Radiology Director and the Medical Director of the Radiology Department.
Qualifications :
High School degree or equivalent required. Graduation from an approved and accredited radiologic educational program required. Registration from the American Registry for Radiologic Technologists and license as a Radiological Technologist in the state of Maryland is required. Current BLS certification or obtained prior to providing direct patient care is required.
Working Conditions
Work is high demand. May be exposed to frequent interruptions and multiple demands. May be physically or verbally abused by patients. Expected to work on rotating shifts including weekends and holidays as necessary. May be required to rotate oncall duties for evenings nights weekends and holidays as necessary. Occupational exposure: Must practice established radiation safety principles; wear and maintain film/ring badges in the prescribed manner; wearing of lead apparel. Potential for regular exposure to communicable diseases and hazardous materials requiring the observance of Standard (Universal) Precautions and safe handling practices. This position has been classified as medium exposure risk and requires the completion of an annual respirator mask fitting.
Physical Requirements
Standing walking stooping bending (58 hours/shift). Reaching for and handling of equipment and supplies (58 hours/shift) (1520 lb.). Visual acuity for viewing video display monitors and reading patients charts (58 hours/shift). Acute hearing required to assimilate oral communication from patient physician family members or other staff members approximately 90% of the time. Manual dexterity for operating equipment. Pushing pulling transferring and maneuvering stretchers and wheelchairs with or without patients or ancillary equipment occasionally with the assistance of others (58 hours/shift weight may exceed 100 lb.) in accordance with Safe Patient Lifting policy.
