Job Description

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS DOD and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures mostly comprising of microscopic bacteriological hematologic immunologic and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue blood urine stool synovial fluid and semen.  The MLT looks for clues to the absence presence and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests. 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing. 
  • Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology microbiology chemistry and blood bank. 
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment. 
  • Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner. 
  • Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care. 
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations. 
  • Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events. 
  • Performance of other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications :

Basic Requirements/Certifications:  

  • Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last year. 
  • Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) the American Medical Technologists (AMT) the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB). 
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. 
  • Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR). 
  • Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Associates degree in medical laboratory technology or related field. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must meet predeployment physical requirements.  
  • Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods. 
  • May require bending stooping and lifting to 25 lbs. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.    
  • Valid US Passport with at least 6 months before expiration date. Must maintain a current passport during your stay in Iraq.  
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance specifically an MRPT. Applicants with current clearances are preferred.  
  • Must be able to relocate to Iraq for the duration of the project. 
  • Must be able to read write and speak English to effectively communicate.

Compensation: Min:$55000       Max: $70000

The pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical financial and other benefits. The final salary and offer will be determined by the applicants background experience skills internal equity and alignment with geographical market data.
