Custodian

Overview:

Custodians are responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of buildings offices classrooms fitness center laboratories breakrooms cafeterias and furnishings ensuring that tasks are completed in a safe proper and timely manner.

Heres what youll do:

• Clean and sanitize restrooms/bathrooms using established practices and procedures
• Clean dust and wipe furniture; sweep mop or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; refill restroom dispensers.
• Strip clean buff and apply floor sealer and floor finish to hard surface floors vacuum and shampoo carpets.
• Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools; buffers auto scrubbers extractors high pressure washers high speed buffers and vacuums brooms mops and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors walls carpets furniture etc.
• Wash walls and equipment; use ladders when required in work assignments.
• Follow instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies. Use as directed
• Complete all daily/weekly checklists/sign off sheets.
• Wash accessible interior and exterior windows. Clean blinds.
• Safely operate all jobrelated equipment and ensure self and coworkers are compliant with all safety rules and regulations
• Reports to a Custodian Lead who is responsible for the direction of housekeeping services in the facility
• Effectively communicate accurate and complete information to oncoming shift
• Positively impacts shift/departmental morale and engagement
• Work with moral integrity on a consistent basis with little or no supervision
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications :

Heres what youll bring to the table:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent required
• Previous custodial experience desired
• Individual must be able to read analyze interpret and present out general business items to groups of coworkers managers clients customers and the general public. Effective English communication is a must bilingual is preferred.
• Employee must possess ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition subtraction multiplication and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations is preferred.
• To successfully support the business needs the employee will be expected to work overtime weekends and rotating/varying shifts as well as be available for emergency callout as needed.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
• Must be able to:
  • Stand and/or walk for up to 12 hour shift
  • Climb on a ladder or scaffolding to heights in excess of 10 balance and work above the shoulders frequently
  • Bend/stoop kneel crouch and squat frequently for extended periods of time
  • Frequently lift up to 50 pounds of weight from the floor to above the shoulders
  • Work at heights
  • Wear required personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes work gloves safety glasses ear protection dust masks safety harnesses and safety shoes on a continuous basis.

Pay Rate: $17.70 per hour.
