This position provides professional respiratory care to patients in varying states of health and illness by assessing planning implementing and evaluating the plan of care. The Level I Therapist provides and oversees delivery of patient care for adult ICU populations and all patients requiring respiratory care in the general units including adult pediatric and cystic fibrosis patients.
- Assess plan implement and evaluate respiratory care plans for patients with varying health conditions.
- Provide and oversee respiratory care for adult ICU patients and those in general units including adult pediatric and cystic fibrosis patients.
- Respond quickly and effectively to emergent situations requiring respiratory intervention.
- Perform repetitive physical movements and remain standing for the majority of the shift.
- Delivering care across multiple hospital areas ensuring comprehensive respiratory support.
- Take on Charge Therapist duties and provide respiratory care in the Emergency Department (ED) after completing required proficiencies.
- Maintain proficiency in adult ICUs and general units as defined by departmental standards.
- Complete all required proficiency training within one year of hire.
Shifts are for 12 hours and go from either 7 am 7 pm or 7 pm 7 am. There are three shifts a week for a total of 72 hours per pay period. Staff work every other weekend and rotate holidays. We have multiple day and night positions.
Requirements
- Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of Vermont (prior to start date)
- Graduate of an AMA approved program for Respiratory Care
- For new grads: must become a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC within one year of hire date.
- Seasoned Therapists must already have RRT status.
- Current ACLS BLS & PALS certifications.
