Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a talented energetic technology minded Geographic Information System (GIS) professional for immediate employment in the MCB Camp Lejeune Installation Geospatial Information and Services (IGI&S) office as a seconded employee.

The position will be onsite at MCB Camp Lejeune near Jacksonville North Carolina.

The GIS Specialist is a fulltime AECOM employee that will report to the GIS Supervisor in the Technology Services Group and will support our United States Marine Corps (USMC) client within the Environment Business line. This position will be part of a team of GIS Specialists supporting the MCB Camp Lejeune IGI&S Program and other functional areas (e.g. environment facilities) with GIS data management geospatial analysis and modeling development of webbased solutions cartographic product development and technical support. A successful candidate will work both independently and in close coordination with the local USMC IGI&S manager and their staff to develop deploy and support GIS across the installation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide comprehensive geospatial services in a fastpaced professional environment with a highlevel of visibility to senior leadership.
  • Design geospatial solutions using a variety of Esri products including ArcGIS Desktop ArcGIS Pro and Portal for ArcGIS.
  • Develop Portal for ArcGIS webbased geospatial content/apps/systems to support datadriven decision making
  • Maintain quality assurance of spatial and nonspatial data and processes as per defined standards
  • Prepare project plans to successfully execute assigned work
  • Provide excellent team leadership critical thinking decisionmaking conflict resolution and analytical skills
  • Work with other staff to ensure quality in all work products
  • Organize document and communicate status updates to program leads and relevant project teams
  • Maintain expertise in existing and emerging GIS related software and technologies
  • Create and maintain GIS data in an ArcGIS Enterprise environment
  • Author automated processing tools (Python Model Builder) for use with repetitive or complex tasks
  • Communicating and collaborating with the project manager project team and client stakeholders to understand and document system/solution requirements
  • Meets with subject matter specialist to discuss topics such as technical specifications customized solutions and operational problems
  • Independently executes and delivers GIS projects of moderate to significant scope and complexity.
  • Perform technical reviews to validate data are compliant with the Marine Corps implementation of the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities Infrastructure and Environment vector data model.
  • Maintain a digital GIS Program Binder detailing the processes and actions involved in completing assigned duties.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in CAD BIM GIS Computer Science Geography Environmental Science Data Science Engineering or related field 4 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education.
  • Valid Drivers License and as a condition of employment must be able to pass AECOMs Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • Due to the nature of work US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with applications such as:
  • ArcGIS Enterprise ArcGIS Pro and Desktop Software
  • Portal for ArcGIS / ArcGIS Online
  • Python scripting for process automation
  • Comfortable working outside occasionally to support field activities
  • Comfortable working in a fastpaced multitasking environment
  • Understanding of relational database organization design and functionality
  • Ability to learn and present best practices for data management including workflows tools governance models and integration patterns
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cartographic design and production concepts and principles
  • Demonstrated experience with the Spatial Data Standards for Facilities Infrastructure and Environment (SDSFIE)
