Job Description
MSNBC is looking for an experienced Segment Producer for MSNBC The Last Word with Lawrence ODonnell.
This position is represented by the Writers Guild of America East.
Responsibilities:
- Research report and write daily segments.
- Determine video and sound for assigned segments.
- Communicate daily story development with senior producers.
- Take part in editorial planning.
- Pitch story ideas.
Qualifications :
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a bachelors degree or equivalent experience
- Strong writing skills and knowledge of American politics and government
- Strong research skills
- At least 5 years of experience in some form of journalism required (i.e. cable or network news website newspaper)
- Breaking news experience is preferred
- Ability to meet daily script deadline pressure
Desired Qualifications:
- Possess ability to develop story ideas research and plan segments
- Exceptional editorial skills: Ability to recognize stories with high potential for provocative compelling television
- Knowledge of current events politics and pop culture
- Widerange reader of news including opeds
Additional Job Requirements:

- This position has been designated as hybrid generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week

Salary range: $93000 $110000
