The Officer reflects the mission vision and values of Northwestern Memorial adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program and complies with all relevant policies procedures guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Patrols assigned areas of hospital properties enforces and maintains visitor control investigates all complaints of a security and safety nature escorts employees and visitors as needed monitors the hospitals alarm systems and closed circuit television (CCTV) screens when needed dispatches Public Safety staff as needed and/or notifies appropriate hospital personnel as necessary. Actively promotes a safe and secure environment for everyone.
Responsibilities:
- Patrols and monitors hospital properties for unauthorized persons and redirects or escorts as needed.
- Checks for hazardous fire and safety conditions secure all doors windows and sensitive areas according to department patrol schedule.
- Monitors all visitors and employees for proper identification
- Performs basic investigation of complaints prepares and types investigative reports in accordance with hospital and departmental procedure initiates incident reports covering specified types of security situations or incidents on shift and submits to supervisor for review.
- Assists all hospital departments with disorderly patients or visitors maintains orderly conduct in all areas and responds to all code whites.
- Detain all suspects for village police when warranted; represents the hospital in court of law when required.
- Controls the entrance to and exit to sensitive areas assuring only authorized persons are allowed entrance.
- Handles the lost and found and distributes items to authorized individuals secures patient and employee valuables when requested
- Escorts visitors and employees from hospital building to parking lot as requested.
- Performs routine Public Safety office procedures in absence of clerk.
- Assist patients and visitors entering and exiting the building including but not limited to parking of vehicles and wheelchair assistance.
- Displays appropriate behavior that reflects professionalism PCH values and effective public relations and communication skills.
- Performs the daily activities and assignments related to Assistant Supervisor when assigned to Officer In Charge (OIC) duties.
- Maintains all required professional certifications & licenses from various organizations.
- Flex Officer performs the same duties as described above.
- Performs other inherent duties related but not limited to the above described duties.
This position is parttime 40 hours per pay period rotating shift with alternating weekends and holidays.
Qualifications :
Required:
- High School graduate
- Must demonstrate understanding and full appreciation of civil laws and hospital policies and procedures.
- Must be certified by the International Association for Health Care Security & Safety (IAHSS) 40 hour Basic Health Care Security Officer Course; must keep certification up to date.
- Basic Computer skills
Preferred:
- Previous healthcare security experience
