- Attendance at briefings toolbox talks and training to enable all duties to be carried out in a safe and sustainable manner.
- Carry out sweeping of the carriageway and other areas using an HGV based mechanical sweeper as directed by the Night Works Supervisor and ensure all relevant paperwork is completed in a timely manner
- Ensure the vehicle is emptied and washed down at the end of each shift and is left in good order.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety regulations. Promote a culture of safety within the team and conduct regular safety briefings.
- Ensure daily driver checks are undertaken on the vehicle prior to commencing network activity
- Identify areas for process improvements and contribute to the development of best practice in highway structures maintenance.
- Demonstrate and encourage a positive attitude towards health safety and the environment. Reporting to the Night Works Supervisor any hazards on site for potential escalation to the Night Works Manager. Adopting a proactive duty of care for own Health & Safety and that of fellow workers.
- Undertake Winter maintenance duties as required.
- Carryout any daily weekly or monthly maintenance of the vehicle and sweeping equipment as per the manufacturers instructions or the Night Works Supervisors instruction.
- Understand the constraints logistics and any sitespecific requirements which will impact completion of the works.
- Keep up to date with all relevant training as required by the role and ensure any new training ideas are communicated back to the Night Works Supervisor for escalation.
Qualifications :
- Previous experience of using a mechanical sweeper (preferred)
- CSCS FISS
- HGV Category C
- willing to undertake training for Inhouse sweeper training qualification
- City and Guilds Winter Service Qualification (or working towards)
