Background in quality assurance testing
Key responsibilities :
- Conducting accessibility testing : Perform manual and automated tests on websites and applications using assistive technologies like screen readers keyboard navigation and color contrast checkers to identify accessibility issues.
- Evaluating against accessibility standards. Analyze test results against established accessibility guidelines (WCAG) to determine compliance levels and prioritize critical issues
- Identify accessibility issues : Detect problems like missing alt text inadequate color contrast improper ARIA attributes Keyboard navigation issues and semantic HTML errors.
- Reporting and documentation : Create detailed reports outlining accessibility findings including screenshots specific issues and actionable recommendations for remediation.
- Collaborating with dev teams : Work closely with designers and developers and project managers to communicate accessibility concerns provide technical guidance on implementation and ensure fixes are implemented effectively.
- Staying updated on accessibility trends : Keep abreast of evolving accessibility standards best practices and new assistive technologies to maintain expertise in the field.
Required skills and qualifications :
- Technical knowledge : Understanding of HTML CSS Javascript and DOM structure to analyze code and identify accessibility issues.
- Accessibility Guidelines : Familiar with WCAG standards and how to apply them to digital products.
- Assistive technology proficiency : Experience using screen readers keyboard navigatos magnifications tools and other assistive technologies to test accessibility.
- Testing methodologies : Knowledge of accessibility testing techniques including manual and automated testing tools and user testing with individuals with disabilities.
- Communication Skills : Ability to clearly communication Complex accessibility issues to technical and nontechnical stake holders including developers and product owners.
- Attention to detail : High level of accuracy and ability to identify even subtle accessibility concerns.
