Job Description

Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented Software Asset Management (SAM) Intern to join our dynamic team. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in gaining handson experience in the field of software asset management licensing and compliance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Software Inventory Management:
    • Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of software licenses and installations.
    • Track software usage and updates.
  2. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Support the documentation of software license agreements entitlements and compliance records.
    • Assist in generating reports for software asset management activities.
  3. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Software Asset Management team to gather and organize information related to software assets.
    • Collaborate with IT and procurement teams to ensure accurate records and compliance.
  4. License Optimization:
    • Participate in initiatives to optimize software licenses and reduce costs.
    • Contribute to research on licensing models and industry best practices.
  5. Vendor Management:
    • Assist in maintaining relationships with software vendors.
    • Support the team in negotiations and communications with vendors.
  6. Education and Training:
    • Engage in training sessions to enhance knowledge of software asset management principles.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and updates related to software licensing.

Qualifications :

Required

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelors program in Management Information Systems Accounting & Information Systems or a related field with an expected graduation date between December 2025June 2026. 
  • Preference given to candidates who will not require relocation to the San Jose or Milpitas CA area. Relocation will not be offered for this position. 
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case to employ you at any point in the future required (for example H1B or other employmentbased immigration case)

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic understanding of software licensing concepts is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
