Job Description
Are you a Software Test Engineer looking to work on cuttingedge electrooptic sensor systems that enhance maritime defence capabilities At ALTEN UK we partner with industry leaders to tackle complex engineering challenges. Location:
Glasgow (Fulltime preferred hybrid options available)
Clearance Requirement:
Sole UK National SC Clearable
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute software test cases to verify system requirements ensuring full test coverage.
- Set up and manage test environments for hardware and software integration supporting complex system validation.
- Plan and conduct software test campaigns integrating real hardware with simulation and emulation tools.
- Develop and maintain test documentation including test plans reports compliance records and fault logs.
- Perform manual and automated testing in Linux and Windows environments ensuring software reliability.
- Investigate and report defects providing clear reproduction steps and root cause analysis to engineering teams.
Qualifications :
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- 5 years experience in software test engineering preferably in defence aerospace or complex safetycritical systems.
- Bachelors/Masters degree in a relevant field or a UK military technical background.
- Strong knowledge of blackbox and whitebox testing methodologies.
- Handson experience with realtime embedded systems and software/hardware version control.
- Proficiency in test case generation metrics tracking and compliance verification.
- Experience using DOORS for requirements management and test case linking.
- Familiarity with test automation frameworks and CI/CD environments.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of IEC61508 or DO178C standards for software testing in safetycritical environments.
- Experience in automated test scripting and Agile/Waterfall methodologies.
- Background in software development particularly in C C or Python.
