Job Description
Role : IMS SYSTEMS & DBA
Location : Frisco TX(Hybrid)
Job description:
Manage the database and ensure 100% availability.
General Responsibilities
- Requires good problem solving skills.
- Ability to debug & diagnose DBMS system and utility software
- Requires IMS Sysplex experience & datasharing expertise
- Various types of IMS restarts (COLD/WARM/ERE).
- Knowledge about IMS SYSGEN process Defining/Adding Transactions and Programs to the IMS system.
- Knowledge of IMS Controls Blocks (DBDs PSBs ACBs).
- Knowledge of IMS Database Recovery Control (DBRC) concepts and RECON datasets
- Should be able to handle the annual Disaster Recovery (DR) exercise activities.
- Sound knowledge about IMS Logging OLDS; SLDS; WADS;RLDS
- Command Codes: Concepts and usage of different command codes. Both Type 1 and Type 2 IMS commands and various IMS Utilities
- Working knowledge of IMS Upgrades.
- Checkpoint Restart: Difference between Basic and Symbolic Check pointing and corresponding Restart logic.
- Secondary Indexing concepts
- Fast path database processing concept: Main Storage Databases (MSDBs) and Data Entry Databases (DEDBs)
- Difference between DLI and BMP modes.
- Different access methods: HDAM HIDAM PHDAM PHIDAM etc...
- Design code and maintain DBMS system exits
- Performance analysis & tuning for DBMS subsystems
- IMS Monitoring Tool Proficient Required Monitoring tool
- Proficient in JCL TSO/SDSF/JES2/SYSVIEW/SMP/E
- The ability to manage small groups lead projects and coordinate multiple tasks under time and resource constraints
- The ability to deal with complex problems and issues and then be able to propose intelligent practical solutions
- The ability to prioritize workloads effectively to meet changing business needs
- Ability to work well in a team environment Ability to project a professional image to both outsourced and potential clients
- Overtime and weekend work occasionally required some travel may be necessary
- Must be able to work with staff in geographically diverse locations
