The position
As a Development Engineer Functional Safety at Kalmar you will be a crucial part of our organization ensuring the safety of our products. You will be responsible for conducting risk assessments of components and functions such as control systems engines and transmissions. Your expertise will contribute to the overall machine safety in line with requirements and standards such as EN 1175:2020 / ISO 13849 the Machinery Directive and new standards for mobile work machines. You will read interpret and apply these standards to Kalmars products ensuring compliance and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform risk assessments on various components and functions including control systems engines and transmissions.
- Maintain a comprehensive overview of all safetycritical functions to facilitate CE marking of Kalmar products.
- Read interpret and apply safety standards and regulations (EN 1175:2020 / ISO 13849 Machinery Directive etc.) to Kalmars products.
- Ensure products meet all necessary safety requirements and contribute to their CE marking process.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to integrate safety measures into product development.
- Communicate technical and regulatory requirements effectively within the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in functional safety particularly in relation to control systems engines and transmissions.
- Strong understanding of safety standards and regulations including EN 1175:2020 / ISO 13849 and the Machinery Directive.
- Experience with risk assessment tools and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
- Project management experience is a plus.
