Title: Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager
Location: Canada Remote (Preferred local to Alberta)

Job Summary:
The client is looking for a senior project manger who will be involved in 3 projects
Project 1: Program Management Tool: Client First Responders Radio Communications System requires a system that provides work order management to maintain and support the radio equipment infrastructure that includes asset management records management Agency Management (CRM) GIS capabilities and flexible responsive reporting. A project manager is required to support the project once a vendor is selected.
Project 2: Class 1 Learning Pathway MOVES: The Mandatory Entry Level Training (MELT) program will be replaced by a new program similar to trade certification.
Project 3: Tech Debt Mitigation: To minimize security vulnerabilities within the client Information Management Technology environment and ensure uninterrupted service delivery all applications and platforms must be actively sustained and supported. However many applications are at risk due to software no longer being supported or feasible to upgrade and high maintenance costs resulting from older design methodologies platforms and/or software.
Responsibilities:
- Gathering planning coordination analysis and project management of IMT initiatives supporting the IMT Project implementation. Defining and meeting all scope requirements budgets and timelines. Ensure all defined business and technical requirements are met.
- Coordinate project activities and work with all stakeholders and vendors to ensure a highly coordinated and effective approach to planning and implementation of the IMT Project;
- Support other project teams and business areas within Technology and Innovation and stakeholders that are dependent on the IMT Project Implementation Initiatives;
- Plan and attend regularly occurring status meetings with team members to track progress issues and assignment of action items;
- Manage dependencies key milestones and risks for the IMT Project Implementation Initiatives;
- Create and deliver presentations using Microsoft products (e.g. PowerPoint) in support of the initiative as requested by the Director Portfolio Development;
- Prepare briefing notes using Technology and Innovation Templates and Microsoft Word as required;
- Provide assistance and expertise in reviewing and negotiating service requests with the vendor to ensure business needs are met and that Technology and Innovation is receiving good value;
- Advise the Director Portfolio Delivery on all IMT Project Implementation Initiatives matters as they relate to Technology and Innovation.
Requirements:
- The proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following: University graduation in business management or related discipline and four years of Project Management (PM) experience; OR Twoyear diploma in business management or related discipline and six years of PM experience; OR One year certificate in business management or related discipline and seven years of PM experience; OR Eight years of PM experience
- Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.
- Experience developing project deliverables including project charters business cases briefing notes status reports risk logs and project closures.
- Experience in a project management role.
- Experience in the design development and implementation of complex IT solutions.
- Experience managing custom application development projects with at least 5 team members.
- Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex custom software application development project (where the software is developed in house for that specific organization) in an environment of similar size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.
- Currently active PMP or PGMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent (attach a copy of the certificate)
- Understanding of First Responders Radio Communications System and project implementation methodology.
- Experience creating and managing project forecast and actual budgets.
- Experience developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships across the organization including executive level.
- Experience exercising resourcefulness when making recommendations on highly technical or complex business issues without formal guidelines or precedents.
- Experience leading and facilitating meetings with stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience leading change management and communication planning.
- Experience leading custom software application development projects following a formal project life cycle methodology.
- Experience making decisions and recommendations on highly technical or complex issues without formal guidelines or precedents and exercises resourcefulness and ingenuity
- Experience using MS Project tools in a project server environment.
- Experience working in a team environment with staff contractors and vendor teams.
- Experience working in or for the public sector.
- Experience working with information management and cybersecurity policies directives and guidelines within limited timelines.
