Material Handling Operator

Roles and responsibilities

We are looking for an organised and detail-oriented professional to oversee the efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods within our warehouse. From tracking inventory with precision to optimising storage layouts, you will play a key role in ensuring our supply chain runs like clockwork.

In this role, you are expected to efficiently coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring all goods are handled safely, inspected thoroughly, and dispatched on-time, all while maintaining accurate records. Think of it as the art of logistics meets science.

Material Handling and Movement
Receiving Materials: Ensure materials arrive and are received properly, including checking items against purchase orders or packing lists for accuracy and quality.
Storing Materials: Safely store materials in the correct locations according to procedures, ensuring that they are easily accessible for future use and minimizing the risk of damage.
Transporting Materials: Move materials, parts, or products to production lines, storage areas, or other parts of the facility using equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material-handling tools.
Inventory Management: Track materials, supplies, and components to ensure that inventory levels are accurate, conducting stock checks and making adjustments when necessary.
Inventory Control
Stock Replenishment: Monitor inventory levels of materials and inform the supervisor when stock is running low to avoid production delays due to material shortages.
Inventory Audits: Perform regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies between physical inventory and system records.
Inventory Reporting: Maintain accurate records of materials used, materials in stock, and movements of materials in and out of the warehouse or production area.
Production Support
Feeding Production Lines: Ensure that materials are readily available and delivered to production lines on time to avoid delays in production schedules.
Assisting with Material Preparation: Prepare materials for production, including tasks like cutting, mixing, or assembling components, as required by the production process.
Ensuring Production Flow: Ensure that materials are provided to production without causing bottlenecks, ensuring smooth operations and productivity.

Desired candidate profile

You will possess a high school certificate and a minimum of 5 years of experience in inventory or warehouse management. Your experience will be an asset, and you will know the ins and outs of efficient logistics with a knack for problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in English and ability to work in a fast-paced environment will help see you thrive in this role.

Operating Machinery: Operate machinery such as forklifts, conveyor belts, and material handling equipment, ensuring it is used safely and efficiently.
Maintenance of Equipment: Perform routine checks on equipment and machinery to ensure they are in good working condition and report any malfunctions or maintenance needs.
Safety and Quality Compliance
Safety Protocols: Follow all health and safety regulations to prevent accidents or injuries while handling materials, operating equipment, and working in the production environment.
Material Quality Checks: Ensure that materials are handled properly and are free from damage or defects that could affect the quality of the final product.
Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized work environment by keeping materials, tools, and equipment neatly stored and ensuring work areas are clear of obstacles.
