Job Description
We are seeking a talented Servo Firmware Intern to join our team in San Jose United States. In this role you will be responsible for developing and optimizing firmware for servo motor control systems contributing to the advancement of our motion control technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design develop and implement firmware for digital control systems for servo applications
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate firmware with servo motor hardware
- Develop Implement and Optimize firmware to improve performance and efficiency
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of firmware to ensure reliability and performance
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to servo control
- Maintain detailed documentation of firmware architecture and implementations
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Stay uptodate with the latest trends and technologies in servo control and embedded systems
Qualifications :
Required;
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering or related field
- Strong proficiency in C/C programming for embedded systems
- Experience with realtime operating systems (RTOS) and microcontroller programming (e.g. ARM RISCV)
- Solid understanding of digital signal processing and motor control algorithms
- Familiarity with feedback control systems and motion control applications
- Experience with debugging tools and techniques for embedded systems
- Proficiency in using version control systems preferably Git
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for embedded firmware development
Preferred:
- Exposure to FPGA Development process is desirable
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with attention to detail

Compensation & Benefits Details
- An employees pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills ability knowledge of the job; (3) performance contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
- The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California Colorado New York or remote jobs that can be performed in California Colorado and New York. This range may be modified in the future.
- If your position is nonexempt you are eligible for overtime pay pursuant to company policy and applicable laws. You may also be eligible for shift differential pay depending on the shift to which you are assigned.
- You will be eligible to participate in Western Digitals ShortTerm Incentive (STI) Plan which provides incentive awards based on Company and individual performance. Depending on your role and your performance you may be eligible to participate in our annual LongTerm Incentive (LTI) program which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs) or cash equivalents pursuant to the terms of the LTI plan. Please note that not all roles are eligible to participate in the LTI program and not all roles are eligible for equity under the LTI plan.
