We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Developer / Architect with a strong background in COBOL to join our clients team. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the scalability performance and security of software solutions driving innovation in architectural design and overseeing the development and implementation of systems. You will mentor development teams enforce quality standards and work closely with stakeholders to propose improvements and deliver robust software solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Architectural Design & Innovation: Drive architectural design decisions and innovation to ensure software solutions are scalable secure and performant.
- Quality Standards & Best Practices: Implement and enforce development standards including quality gates code formatters checkstyles and best practices for maintaining highquality code.
- System & Process Improvements: Propose and implement improvements to existing systems and development processes ensuring efficiency and continuous improvement.
- Development Lifecycle Management: Oversee the development process including static and unit testing ensuring best practices are followed at every stage.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with Team Architects Developers and other stakeholders to align on technical solutions requirements and priorities.
- Mentorship & Guidance: Provide technical guidance mentorship and support to development teams ensuring adherence to best practices and continuous skill development.
- Code Reviews & Test Coverage: Lead code reviews ensuring highquality implementation and adequate test coverage for new and existing systems.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of developers guiding them through complex technical challenges and fostering a collaborative highperformance development environment.
We are happy to hear from you if you have:
- Over 5 years of experience in software development with a focus on COBOL and in applying best development practices and principles.
- Experience with development lifecycle tools such as Bitbucket SonarQube GitLab IBM Software Analyzer and other relevant tools for code quality version control and testing.
- Deep understanding of COBOL and other relevant technologies with experience in developing and maintaining legacy systems.
- Strong ability to analyze complex problems troubleshoot development and architectural issues and propose effective solutions.
- Experience in optimizing unit and integration testing performed by developers ensuring comprehensive test coverage and highquality deliverables.
- Excellent English communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work with crossfunctional teams and articulate complex technical concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor development teams providing technical direction coaching and fostering an environment of continuous learning.
- A university/college degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field or an equivalent combination of education certification and experience.
