Roles and responsibilities
1. Project Design and Development
- Conceptualization and Design: Lead the design of mechanical systems and components based on project requirements, including HVAC systems, machinery, piping systems, and structural components.
- Advanced Modeling and Analysis: Use engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Revit) to create detailed models and simulations of mechanical systems. Perform stress analysis, thermal analysis, and other engineering calculations to ensure system functionality and safety.
- Design Optimization: Optimize designs to meet efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability targets while meeting the client's technical specifications.
- Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the development and testing of prototypes, ensuring that designs perform as expected under real-world conditions.
2. Project Management and Coordination
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage mechanical engineering projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and meet quality standards. Supervise junior engineers, technicians, and design teams, guiding them through project phases.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments (such as electrical, civil, and structural engineering teams) to ensure that mechanical systems integrate effectively with other project components.
- Schedule and Budget Management: Develop project schedules, allocate resources, and manage project costs, ensuring that work progresses according to plan and within the allocated budget.
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate regularly with clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to keep them informed about project progress and any issues that arise.
3. Technical Oversight and Quality Control
- Standards Compliance: Ensure that all mechanical designs and systems comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements. This includes ensuring adherence to local codes and global standards.
- Quality Assurance: Implement and monitor quality control processes to ensure that mechanical systems are designed and constructed according to specifications and perform as intended.
- Troubleshooting: Provide technical guidance in resolving complex mechanical issues that may arise during the design, testing, or installation phases of a project.
- System Integration: Ensure that mechanical systems work seamlessly with other systems, such as electrical, plumbing, and automation systems, to provide a fully integrated solution.
Desired candidate profile
Documentation and Reporting
Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, specifications, and other documentation required for project approval, installation, and operation.
Change Management: Document any changes or modifications made to designs or systems during the project lifecycle and communicate them to all relevant parties.
Client Reports and Updates: Prepare and present progress reports for clients, addressing any technical or schedule-related issues. Ensure transparency and clear communication with clients and stakeholders.
. Mentorship and Team Development
Team Leadership: Provide leadership to a team of engineers and technicians. Mentor junior engineers, guiding them in their technical and professional development.
Training and Development: Identify areas for further team development and provide training to ensure the team stays current with the latest technologies, software, and industry practices.
. Health, Safety, and Environmental Management
Safety Protocols: Ensure that all mechanical designs and installations adhere to safety standards and best practices. Identify potential hazards and work to mitigate risks during the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
Environmental Considerations: Incorporate sustainability and environmental best practices in design and system optimization, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
