Job Description
The role of the Research Scientist is to develop purification strategies for biomolecules such as proteins. You will be expected to troubleshoot problems devise alternative strategies and protocols and to teach and train Junior Research Scientists.
Key Responsibilities and Role Objectives
- Developing protein purification protocols using AKTA chromatography systems as part of the Downstream Process Development Team
- Writing SOPs and supporting documents for those protocols
- Daybyday reporting of results to and discussion of experimental strategies with the Lead Development Scientist as requested
- Preparing buffers and other lab materials
- Analysing proteins using SDSPAGE Western blot ELISA
- Maintaining appropriate stock levels of highturnover research materials
- Meticulous notekeeping of research activities is crucial
- Liaise with Production Team and Upstream Development Team to ensure research material supplies are ready for experiments
- Literature Reviews
- Supporting leading and training junior members as the need arises
Qualifications :
- Sciencebased degree (or similar relevant work experience)
- Proven experience working in a scientific environment (Masters degree or equivalent experience)
- High accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to follow and maintain SOPs
- Good verbal and written communication standards
- Experience using basic IT programs primarily Microsoft Excel PowerPoint and Word
- Desire to support other team members when required to help the overall business function
