The Toronto Star is currently recruiting for a permanent fulltime Photojournalist Videographer.
Responsibilities
- Work with reporters to create/edit videos that reflect the core thrust of their stories to attract broader audiences to the Stars awardwinning journalism.
- Create their own bylined multimedia stories incorporating video text still images interactive graphics and other audiencefriendly storytelling methods.
- Work with reporters in the newsroom to create longtail explainers that help our audience navigate the challenges of living and working in Toronto.
- Cut simple clips from video shot in the field acquired from public sources recorded in the newsroom wire services and elsewhere either to complement a reporters story or to stand on its own.
- Shoot professionalquality video and photos in the field and in studio from press conferences to community events to sitdown interviews.
- Work closely with the Stars digital producers and digital designers to execute video on thestar.com and social media in new and creative ways.
- Be a powerful advocate for multimedia storytelling in a newsroom that has historically organized around print.
- Work to short deadlines and allocate the appropriate amount of time from a few minutes to a few days for each assigned task.
- Create and contribute to an environment of growth demonstrate enthusiasm and support colleagues in their work.
Salary: $60547.97 $95740.19

This is a notice of vacancy under Article 8 of collective agreement between Toronto Star Newspapers Limited and Unifor Local 87M. The hours of work for this position will vary according to the assignment but will all conform to a standard 35hour work week as described under the collective agreement. This position will be located in Toronto.
Qualifications :
- Degree in journalism broadcast production or equivalent education.
- Five or more years of experience working in a dynamic newsroom environment and using editing platforms like Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut.
- Strong familiarity with Adobe Photoshop motion graphics platforms and interactive storytelling techniques.
- The ideal candidate should also have significant experience shooting photo and video with a DSLR iPhone or equivalent camera including setting up proper lighting configurations and collecting high quality audio.
- Preferred applicants will have a demonstrated ability to both create their own enterprise journalism and work in support of other journalists.
