Installation of Instruments and Equipment
Fitting and Mounting Instruments: Install and fit various types of instrumentation and control systems, including pressure gauges, flow meters, temperature sensors, and control valves, as per the project specifications.
Piping and Tubing: Work with other professionals to install piping, tubing, and electrical connections required for instrumentation.
Commissioning: Assist in the commissioning of new systems by ensuring all instruments are installed correctly and ready for initial operation.
Calibration and Testing
Calibration: Ensure that instruments are calibrated to provide accurate measurements and readings, in line with industry standards and operational requirements.
Testing: Perform tests on installed instruments to verify their proper functioning, including testing sensors, transmitters, and controllers.
Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose issues with instruments or systems, such as inaccuracies or malfunctions, and rectify them by adjusting or recalibrating instruments.
Maintenance and Repairs
Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance on instruments to ensure they continue to operate efficiently and accurately. This includes cleaning, checking, and replacing parts as needed.
Repair and Replacement: Repair or replace faulty instruments or components, ensuring that the system is returned to optimal working conditions.
System Diagnostics: Troubleshoot problems related to instrumentation, such as failure to communicate with control systems, incorrect readings, or physical damage, and perform repairs or recommend replacements.
Experience: 5-6 years’ experience in the relevant field as below.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintenance Logs: Maintain accurate records of all installed instruments, calibration activities, maintenance work, and repairs performed. This includes logging calibration certificates and maintenance schedules.
Technical Reports: Prepare detailed reports about the status of instruments, maintenance activities, faults, and repairs for supervisors or engineers.
Compliance Documentation: Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations by maintaining proper documentation for audits and inspections.
Safety and Compliance
Safety Procedures: Follow safety procedures and guidelines when working with instruments and electrical components to prevent accidents or damage to equipment.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that instruments meet local, national, and international standards, such as those set by organizations like IEC, ISO, or ANSI.
Hazardous Area Work: In certain industries, work with instruments in hazardous or explosive environments (e.g., oil refineries, chemical plants) while adhering to safety protocols, such as those outlined by the ATEX or NEC standards.
Collaboration with Other Teams
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, electricians, maintenance teams, and other technical professionals to install and maintain instrumentation systems.
Coordination with Operations: Coordinate with operators to ensure instruments are functioning as required for process monitoring and control.
