A Facilities Maintenance Technician I under the general supervision of the Facilities Management Supervisor performs skilled and semiskilled duties related to the maintenance of facilities. An employee in this class provides repair alteration modernization and preventive maintenance duties and performs other related duties as assigned.
A Facilities Maintenance Technician I must be in good physical condition to perform medium to heavy work activities including lifting and carrying objects weighing fifty (50) pounds or more as well as walking standing and bending for extended periods of time.
An employee in this class performs job duties in a variety of work locations including inside on top of or outside of buildings and facilities.
The selected candidate must take a postoffer medical examination (including a back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test conducted by an appointed physician before the first day of employment. Employment offers are contingent upon the results of these examinations.
Applicants may also be subject to a postoffer criminal background check depending on the positions nature and assignment. Employment is contingent upon the results of this check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment is considered permanent.

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list to fill current and future vacancies in this classification. For each opening the Department Head selects candidates meeting the required minimum qualifications. The eligible list remains effective for three (3) months unless extended or exhausted.
