Highways Operative

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Newport to assist with the appointment of a Highways Operative on a 8month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 12.18 14.62 per hour

Responsibilities:

• To aid Monmouthshire highways operations team achieve the required levels of service that are specified within the MCC Service Improvement Plan.
• To be courteous to all members of the public and ensure that the highway maintenance services provided by Monmouthshire are efficiently undertaken and are of a high standard.
• To contact the supervisor should any work practice or equipment be considered to be unsafe in any way.
  Whenever possible provide the supervisor with any observations that may enable or help an existing work practice to be improved.

Qualifications:

• You must be able to carry out heavy physical manual duties over prolonged period of time.
• You must be able to work as part of a team.
• You must be able to work with minimal supervision.
• You must be able to take instructions.
• You must be able to operate construction plant i.e. rollers breakers compactors disc cutters etc.
• You must be willing to undertake training to expand skills base and heath & safety awareness.

• You should be available to work immediately or at a short notice.
• You should have right to work in U.K
