- Citizenship Requirements: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Clearance Requirements: National Background Check with Inquires Fingerprints and Drug Screen.
- Type of Employment: FullTime 40 hours per week.
- Estimate Pay: $62.96/hour.
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80hours per year occurring on day one.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56hours per year occurring on day one.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours
The Dental Hygienist will normally work from Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 2:30pm with a 30minute unpaid lunch break. The Dental Hygienist will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Dental Hygienist will be responsible for personal health care needs and costs associated with exposure or possible exposure to any blood borne pathogen or other risk encountered during performance of their Duties.
Qualifications
- Must be a graduated from an accredited school of Dental Hygienist School or program.
- Licensed as a Dental Hygienist by the State of California.
- Three letters of reference from professional peers.
- Signed consent for release of information for verification of credentials.
- Dental radiology certification and anesthesia certification required.
- Must have at least Three (3) or more years of experience.
- Must be CardioPulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).

Attire
The Dental Hygienist is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the BPA employee will be performing.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide dental prophylaxis for adults in custody who are referred to by the dental staff.
- Provide thorough individualized oral hygiene instructions to each patient.
- Monitor oral hygiene and periodontal condition on each patient seen for dental prophylaxis.
- Complete necessary dental xrays as specified by the dentist.
- Sterilize instruments used for prophylaxis and other instruments as specified by the dental staff.
- Complete necessary dental xrays as specified by the dentist.
- Perform necessary paperwork related to scheduling patients for dental prophylaxis as directed by the dental staff.
