Roles and responsibilities

Network Design & Architecture
Design and implement network architectures tailored to specific business needs, whether it's for a data center, large-scale enterprise network, or cloud infrastructure.
Plan, create, and document network topology diagrams, hardware requirements, and configuration standards.
Evaluate network requirements based on business operations and design scalable and high-performance solutions.
2. Network Implementation & Configuration
Configure, deploy, and manage advanced networking equipment (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, etc.) and specialized network services (e.g., MPLS, SD-WAN, VPNs).
Ensure the proper setup of network infrastructure, including physical and virtual environments.
Integrate and configure specific network devices for performance optimization, high availability, and redundancy.
3. Network Performance Optimization
Monitor and analyze network performance to ensure the optimal functionality of specialized networks.
Troubleshoot network-related issues and identify areas for improvement, including optimizing traffic flow, reducing latency, and ensuring quality of service (QoS).
Implement performance tuning and capacity planning to ensure the network can handle peak loads and scale as needed.
4. Security and Network Protection
Implement network security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), network access control (NAC), and VPN technologies to protect data and prevent unauthorized access.
Conduct vulnerability assessments and apply patches and updates to ensure the network is secure against cyber threats.
Design and implement secure communication protocols and ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
5. Troubleshooting & Incident Resolution
Identify and resolve network issues promptly, whether they involve hardware failures, misconfigurations, or performance problems.
Use specialized tools and technologies (e.g., Wireshark, NetFlow, SNMP) to diagnose and resolve issues across complex network systems.
Collaborate with other teams to troubleshoot and resolve incidents affecting network performance or availability.

Desired candidate profile

Collaboration & Stakeholder Communication

• Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., systems administrators, application developers, security teams) to ensure that the network meets the needs of various stakeholders.
• Communicate technical network issues, solutions, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and training to other team members or junior engineers on specialized networking concepts and best practices.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

• Network Protocols & Technologies: Deep understanding of specialized protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS, QoS, and others.
• Routing & Switching: Expertise in advanced routing and switching techniques, including configuration and troubleshooting.
• Network Security: Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and other security technologies to protect networks from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
• Cloud Networking: Experience with cloud networking concepts, hybrid cloud environments, and integration between on-premise and cloud networks.
• Performance Optimization: Skills in network performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting using specialized tools.
• Network Automation: Familiarity with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python scripting) to streamline routine tasks and improve network efficiency.
• SDN & Virtualization: Experience with Software-Defined Networking (SDN), network function virtualization (NFV), and related technologies.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostic Tools: Proficiency in using network analysis tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, NetFlow, and others.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), CompTIA Network+, Juniper Networks Certified Internet Specialist (JNCIS), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly valued.
