Job Description
The Australian Financial Review is seeking an experienced Property Reporter with a track record as a news breaker. Youll deliver high quality and engaging stories about Australias closelywatched property market with a focus on the commercial sector covering hospitality travel and retail. The successful candidate will be part of the AFRs Property team and report to the Property Editor.
Responsibilities:
- Report on breaking news across the property sector commercial and residential both in the direct market and the publicly listed market
- Focus on exclusive news about pubs hotels resorts private islands prestige homes luxury retail agricultural and rural properties and logistics/industrial.
- Write news features profiles and analysis.
- Cultivate contacts across the property and corporate sectors
- Work with and across the various sections of the Financial Review including its magazines and live events.
Qualifications :
In order to succeed you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a major newsroom
- Experience in business or property reporting
- Be a compelling writer who is able to deliver clear lively news feature stories and profiles while meeting deadlines.
- Have experience in and understanding of financial and economic matters especially those affecting commercial property and residential real estate both listed and unlisted
- Understand how to access data and statistics which explain how property markets are performing
- Be across the main issues and drivers affecting the performance of property markets
- Possess a thorough knowledge of the main players in the industry and a wide base of contacts.
