Analytical Sciences Graduate Intern Overview

Product Development Science and Technology (PDS&T) is the intersection of technical excellence and business impact.  We are champions of product innovation and process knowledge to solve AbbVies most complex technical challenges to successfully support latephase products commercialize our pipeline ensure the quality and efficacy of our products make a direct impact on patient health and wellbeing.

During a summer in PDS&T Analytical Sciences the intern would own a focused technical project to support analytical method development and facilitate new technologies development. We are looking for a candidate to support our Lab of the Future initiative by exploring rapid spectroscopy (transmission Raman TRS and/or nearinfrared NIR) for multiattribute testing and evaluating the potential of an automated solid dosing system. The candidate will be exposed to rapid spectroscopy and chemometric modeling.

• Analytical method development
• Technical investigations
• Introduction of innovative technologies

Key responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating scientific initiative and creativity in research and development activities
• Leveraging strong chemistry backgrounds for analytical method development using various analytical instruments
• Developing and executing laboratory work drawing conclusions and deviations
• Summarizing and presenting results with clear conclusions and recommendations for future steps
• Performing routine and complex tasks competently and independently ensuring the generation of reliable and consistent results
• Maintaining compliance with all applicable policies and procedures
• Understanding and adhering to corporate standards regarding code of conduct safety and appropriate handling of materials and GxP compliance where applicable

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications 

• Currently enrolled in university pursuing a Masters or PhD in Chemistry Chemical Engineering or other related field of study
• Must be enrolled in university for at least one semester following the internship

Preferred Qualifications 

• Expected graduation date between December 2025 August 2026
• Previous research/lab experience in analytical chemistry (including spectroscopy) modeling (including chemometrics) and data analysis software
• Excellent verbal written presentation and interpersonal skills required. Ability to communicate concepts and problems in terms that are understandable to all levels of the organization including senior leadership
