The buzzing Canva London campus features several buildings around beautiful leafy Hoxton Square in Shoreditch. While our global headquarters is in Sydney Australia London is our HQ for Europe with all kinds of teams based here plus event spaces to gather our team and communities. What youd be doing in this role
As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think thats all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things youll be working on when you start but this will likely evolve.
At the moment this role is focused on:
- Lead the team to develop and deliver exciting new charts and data visualisations to Canva.
- Contribute to the evolving stack as part of a highly functional and passionate team.
- Work closely with other product teams in Australia to collaboratively innovate and deliver cuttingedge functionality.
- Coach lead and mentor your team to help them achieve their goals.
- Perform structured performance reviews with your team members conduct regular 1:1s participate in the hiring process of new engineers and plan goals & milestones for your team.
- Foster a positive and productive work environment by promoting collaboration open communication and continuous learning and development opportunities for your team.
Youre probably a match if
- You have several years of commercial experience developing complex web applications previous experience of data visualisation technology is not required but would be a bonus.
- You have previous experience as a Software Engineer in tune with software engineering fundamentals and first principles; comfortable contributing to design documents and performing thorough code reviews and at times coding when needed.
- Youve got experience and knowledge of crossbrowser and crossdevice development.
- Youre an experienced data wrangler and have used libraries such as Pandas and Vega.
- You bring several years of experience in people management leading and mentoring other software engineers. Providing mentorship to others is close to your heart and you thrive by empowering them.
- You possess strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate problems and solutions clearly.
- You bring a strong ability to influence and work crossfunctionally across several internal teams to work with a diverse range of individuals from different backgrounds with different expertise and with different professional and personal needs

At Canva we believe data visualisation is a critical visual communication tool for working professionals small business owners students and educators alike. Thats why the Data Visualisation group is on a mission to create powerful yet extremely easytouse tools that make it a snap to create beautiful charts graphs diagrams and infographics that tell meaningful stories.
Our mission in the Data Workflows team Making complex data simple. To take data from various sources and shape it into a story that can be brought to life visually. This isnt just about having data but about transforming the data and creating a narrative with it using visualisations from a library curated by our sibling team Charts.
AI and machine learning have the potential to greatly increase the accessibility of data visualisation techniques to datashy users and creative applications of visual and natural languagebased AI will allow our advanced users to create data visualisations from their complex data that were inconceivable just a few years ago. Youll help us expand our exciting developments in this space (informed by the acquisition of leading dataviz company Flourish) while also exploring new related areas.
