Job Summary:
The Dairy Farm Worker plays a critical role in ensuring the wellbeing productivity and management of dairy livestock and the overall smooth operation of the farm. This role involves handson care for the herd equipment operation maintenance and assisting in all aspects of farm operations to maintain a highquality milk production standard.
Key Responsibilities:
Animal Care and Milking
- Perform milking operations using automated milking systems ensuring minimal stress to cows and proper milk handling techniques twice each day.
- Monitor milk flow and quality during milking sessions identifying issues such as mastitis or abnormal milk composition.
- Clean and sanitize milking equipment after each session to maintain hygiene and compliance with industry standards.
- Manage cow flow to and from the milking parlor to minimize stress and ensure safety for both workers and animals.
- Separate and manage cows with health issues ensuring they receive appropriate care and are milked separately when necessary.
- Management of cow in early lactation
- Management of Clinical Mastitis cases
- Prepare daily feed rations using feeding machinery or manual tools ensuring proper nutritional balance.
- Distribute feed efficiently monitoring for uneaten portions and adjusting as needed.
- Refill water troughs and monitor water supply quality and availability.
- Monitor cow body condition scores identifying underfed or overfed animals and reporting to the Farm Manager.
- Feed and care for calves including preparing and administering milk replacers or colostrum when needed.
- Assist with calving including monitoring cows for signs of labor providing support during delivery and ensuring newborn calves are healthy.
- Maintain accurate breeding records and assist with artificial insemination or natural breeding programs under supervision.
- Wean calves at appropriate stages and transition them to group housing or feeding systems.
- Attending Artificial Insemination.
- Clean and disinfect milking parlors feeding areas and housing facilities to meet biosecurity and hygiene standards.
- Remove manure and waste from barns and pens ensuring proper disposal and environmental compliance.
- Perform routine maintenance on farm equipment including tractors feeding systems and milking machines.
- Inspect and repair fences gates and other farm infrastructure to ensure a safe environment for livestock.
- Regularly observe cows for signs of illness lameness or unusual behavior and promptly report issues.
- Assist with administering medications vaccinations and treatments as directed by veterinarians or the Farm Manager.
- Maintain accurate records of individual animal health treatments and vaccinations.
- Conduct hoof trimming dehorning or other routine health procedures under supervision or as trained.
- Ensure compliance with farm safety protocols including proper handling of chemicals machinery and livestock.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and farm operations.

Skills and Qualifications:
Essential:
Handson experience in dairy farming or animal husbandry.
Strong physical stamina and the ability to work long hours in varying weather conditions.
Understand how to manage a cow and its milk when it has mastitis.
Familiarity with handling livestock and operating milking equipment.
Basic knowledge of animal health and nutrition.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Candidates must have excellent hearing
Preferred:
Experience with automated feeding and milking systems.
Basic mechanical and repair skills for farm equipment.
Certification in agricultural safety or animal care practices.
