Job Description: Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Lumber Equipment)

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic with expertise in servicing and repairing large lumber equipment to join our team. The ideal candidate will have handson experience diagnosing maintaining and repairing heavy machinery used in lumber processing and production. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational efficiency and reliability of our equipment contributing to the success of our lumber operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on large lumber equipment such as sawmills log loaders bulldozers and forklifts.
  • Diagnose mechanical hydraulic and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of equipment to identify and troubleshoot problems.
  • Repair or replace defective parts components or systems including engines transmissions brakes and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure equipment operates smoothly and safely.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and technical manuals for repairs and maintenance procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work performed on each piece of equipment.
  • Collaborate with operations and production teams to prioritize and schedule repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and practices at all times while working on equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory of spare parts and equipment supplies.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic preferably with large lumber equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problemsolving skills.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing mechanical hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals schematics and blueprints.
  • Experience with welding and fabrication is advantageous.
  • Certification or formal training in heavy equipment mechanics is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fastpaced environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and respond to afterhours emergency repair needs.
  • Physical strength and stamina to lift heavy parts and equipment.
