Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching Responsibilities:

• Course Instruction: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science, covering topics such as programming languages, data structures, algorithms, operating systems, database management, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer networks, software engineering, and computer architecture.
• Curriculum Development: Develop and update course syllabi, assignments, exams, and teaching materials that reflect current trends in computer science and emerging technologies. Ensure the curriculum aligns with industry needs and academic standards.
• Active Learning and Engagement: Foster an engaging and interactive learning environment by using a mix of lectures, hands-on coding exercises, lab sessions, group projects, and practical case studies. Encourage student participation and critical thinking.
• Assessment and Feedback: Design assessments (homework, projects, exams, etc.) that test both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on their work and help them improve their problem-solving abilities.
• Academic Advising: Advise students on academic and career matters, helping them select courses and guiding them in their professional development. Offer mentorship and advice for students pursuing careers in computer science or related fields.
• Supervision of Research Projects: Supervise graduate students’ research projects or theses, particularly in specialized areas such as machine learning, computer vision, or data science. Provide guidance on research methodologies, writing, and data analysis.

2. Research Responsibilities:

• Conduct Original Research: Engage in cutting-edge research in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, software engineering, machine learning, data science, robotics, human-computer interaction, cloud computing, and blockchain technology.
• Publish Research Findings: Write and publish scholarly papers in peer-reviewed computer science journals and present research at academic conferences. Contribute to the academic community by sharing insights on emerging technologies and advancing theoretical and practical knowledge.
• Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Research: Collaborate with other faculty members, both within and outside the computer science department, on interdisciplinary projects. This could include fields like bioinformatics, computational biology, data privacy, or ethics in technology.
• Apply for Research Grants: Seek external funding through grants and fellowships to support research projects. This may involve applying to government agencies, private foundations, or industry partnerships for funding opportunities.
• Supervision of Student Research: Mentor and guide undergraduate and graduate students in conducting independent research. Assist students with their research ideas, provide feedback, and help them publish research findings or present at conferences.

3. Professional Development:

• Stay Updated on Emerging Technologies: Continuously update knowledge on new developments, trends, and technologies in computer science, such as quantum computing, 5G networks, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and blockchain.
• Attend Conferences and Workshops: Participate in computer science conferences, workshops, and seminars to stay current with research advancements, network with peers, and present findings from your own research.
• Engage with the Industry: Build relationships with industry professionals, tech companies, and research labs to ensure that your research and teaching align with real-world needs. This engagement may also lead to internships, collaborations, or consulting opportunities.

Desired candidate profile

1. The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2. The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3. The applicant’s grade for the position of Assistant Professor must not be less than a very good grade in all academic stages. Applicants who obtained a good grade in the bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4. The applicant must attach the “equivalency certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
-10 The applicant must be medically fit.
