Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Course Instruction: Teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses in accounting, including topics such as financial accounting, managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, accounting information systems, cost accounting, and financial statement analysis.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop and update course content, syllabi, and instructional materials to ensure they reflect the latest standards, regulations, and trends in accounting. Incorporate case studies, real-world examples, and current industry practices into the curriculum.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams, quizzes, group projects, and presentations. Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their technical skills and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Hands-On Learning: Facilitate interactive learning experiences such as simulations, accounting software tools, and financial modeling exercises. Guide students in applying accounting concepts to real-world scenarios, such as preparing financial statements, conducting audits, or analyzing financial data.
  • Academic Advising and Mentorship: Serve as an academic advisor to undergraduate and graduate students, assisting with course selection, career planning, internships, and professional certifications. Guide students through research projects or capstone experiences in accounting.
  • Professional Certification Support: Help students prepare for accounting certifications such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant), CMA (Certified Management Accountant), or CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) by integrating certification requirements into the coursework and advising students on exam preparation.

2. Research Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Research: Engage in original research in accounting. Topics may include financial reporting, corporate governance, auditing practices, accounting information systems, ethics in accounting, tax policy, or international accounting standards.
  • Publish Research: Write and publish research papers in peer-reviewed accounting and finance journals. Present research findings at academic conferences and industry events. Contribute to the advancement of the field by exploring new accounting practices, technologies, or regulatory impacts.
  • Collaborate on Research Projects: Collaborate with faculty from other disciplines (e.g., economics, finance, business law) on interdisciplinary research projects. Engage with industry partners to conduct applied research in areas such as corporate governance, fraud detection, or financial management.
  • Seek Research Funding: Apply for research grants from government agencies, academic institutions, or industry organizations to fund accounting-related research projects. Write research proposals to secure funding for innovative studies in accounting.
  • Supervise Graduate Students: Mentor graduate students (MSc/PhD) in their research endeavors. Provide guidance on research methodology, literature reviews, data analysis, and publication strategies.

3. Professional Development:

  • Stay Updated with Industry Trends: Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP), tax regulations, auditing practices, and accounting technologies. Participate in workshops, webinars, and professional development programs to enhance teaching and research expertise.
  • Networking and Collaboration: Network with professionals in accounting, finance, and business sectors. Attend industry conferences, seminars, and workshops to exchange ideas, collaborate on research, and remain connected to trends in the profession.

Desired candidate profile

1. The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2. The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3. The applicant’s grade for the position of Assistant Professor must not be less than a very good grade in all academic stages. Applicants who obtained a good grade in the bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4. The applicant must attach the “equivalency certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between the academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
