Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Course Instruction: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in finance, such as financial management, corporate finance, investment analysis, financial markets, portfolio management, risk management, and financial derivatives.
  • Curriculum Development: Design and update course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and exams. Ensure that the curriculum reflects current trends, theories, and best practices in finance, integrating real-world case studies and practical applications.
  • Engagement in Classroom Activities: Deliver engaging lectures, facilitate classroom discussions, and use a variety of teaching methods (e.g., case studies, simulations, group projects) to make complex financial concepts accessible and relevant to students.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Create and grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects to assess student understanding of financial concepts. Provide constructive feedback to guide students’ learning and development in finance.
  • Academic Advising: Serve as an academic advisor to students, assisting with course selection, career advice, and internship opportunities in finance. Mentor students to help them achieve their academic and professional goals.
  • Internship and Job Placement Support: Help students secure internships and job opportunities by connecting them with industry professionals, providing career guidance, and helping them prepare for the job market.

2. Research Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Research: Engage in original research in areas such as corporate finance, investment strategies, financial markets, behavioral finance, risk management, financial modeling, or financial econometrics.
  • Publish Research: Write and publish research papers in peer-reviewed finance journals. Present research findings at national and international finance conferences, contributing to academic discussions and advancing the field.
  • Collaborate on Research Projects: Collaborate with other faculty members, researchers, or industry professionals on interdisciplinary research projects related to finance, economics, or business.
  • Seek Research Funding: Apply for research grants from government bodies, foundations, or industry organizations to support research projects in finance. Research topics may include financial regulation, market efficiency, or the impact of new technologies on financial markets.
  • Supervise Graduate Research: Mentor graduate students (e.g., Master’s or PhD) in their research projects. Provide guidance on research design, data analysis, and writing. Oversee theses or dissertations in finance-related topics.

3. Professional Development:

  • Stay Current with Financial Trends: Continuously update knowledge about financial markets, new investment strategies, financial instruments, regulatory changes, and economic factors affecting finance. Attend conferences, workshops, and webinars to stay current in the field.
  • Networking: Build and maintain professional relationships with finance professionals, industry experts, and academics to stay connected with the latest developments in finance. Participate in finance-related professional associations, such as the CFA Institute or the American Finance Association (AFA).

Desired candidate profile

1. The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2. The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3. The applicant’s grade for the position of Assistant Professor must not be less than a very good grade in all academic stages. Applicants who obtained a good grade in the bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4. The applicant must attach the “equivalency certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
-10 The applicant must be medically fit.
