Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

1. Teaching Responsibilities:

  • Lectures and Seminars: Deliver lectures on various topics related to clinical laboratory science, such as microbiology, hematology, clinical chemistry, immunology, molecular biology, laboratory management, and laboratory safety. Ensure the curriculum includes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
  • Laboratory Instruction: Provide hands-on laboratory instruction and demonstrations, guiding students in performing clinical laboratory procedures, analyzing laboratory results, and understanding laboratory equipment. Teach students to accurately conduct diagnostic tests, prepare samples, and interpret findings.
  • Clinical Education: Supervise students in clinical internships or rotations at hospitals, clinics, or diagnostic laboratories. Provide mentorship and guidance as students apply their knowledge in real-world clinical laboratory settings.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop, evaluate, and revise the curriculum and course materials to ensure they align with the latest developments in laboratory science and meet accreditation standards. Incorporate the latest laboratory technologies and research into teaching.
  • Student Assessment: Evaluate students' performance through exams, lab practicals, case studies, and clinical evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to help students refine their technical skills, critical thinking, and professional behavior.
  • Academic Advising: Serve as an academic advisor to students in clinical laboratory programs, offering guidance on course selection, career pathways, and research opportunities in laboratory science.

2. Research Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Research: Engage in research related to clinical laboratory science, including topics like laboratory diagnostics, clinical biomarker development, laboratory automation, quality control in laboratory settings, or advances in laboratory technology. Research could also include exploring ways to improve laboratory practices and patient care outcomes.
  • Publish Research: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences. Contribute to advancing knowledge in clinical laboratory science through impactful research.
  • Grant Writing: Seek funding opportunities through government agencies, healthcare organizations, or private foundations to support research projects focused on improving clinical laboratory practices or diagnostic technologies.
  • Mentor Student Research: Mentor graduate or doctoral students conducting research in clinical laboratory science. Guide students through study design, data collection, analysis, and the publication process.

3. Clinical Practice and Applied Laboratory Science:

  • Collaborate with Clinical Laboratories: Partner with local hospitals, clinics, and research laboratories to stay connected to current trends in clinical laboratory practice. This may involve working on clinical research projects or engaging in professional practice to keep skills current.
  • Technology Integration: Teach students how to use and understand the latest laboratory technologies, such as automation systems, molecular diagnostic tools, and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Focus on how these technologies improve diagnostic accuracy, efficiency, and patient outcomes.
  • Quality Control and Safety: Educate students about laboratory safety protocols, regulatory standards (such as CLIA, CAP), and quality control procedures in clinical laboratory settings. Ensure students understand how to maintain accuracy and reliability in laboratory tests.

Desired candidate profile

1. The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2. The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3. The applicant’s grade for the position of Assistant Professor must not be less than a very good grade in all academic stages. Applicants who obtained a good grade in the bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4. The applicant must attach the “equivalency certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
-10 The applicant must be medically fit.
