Roles and responsibilities
1. Teaching Responsibilities:
- Lectures and Seminars: Deliver lectures and seminars on topics related to surgical nursing, including preoperative care, intraoperative care, postoperative care, surgical interventions, pain management, and wound care.
- Clinical Instruction: Provide clinical instruction in surgical settings, such as operating rooms, recovery units, and post-anesthesia care units (PACU). Supervise students in real-life clinical environments, guiding them in providing patient care before, during, and after surgery.
- Curriculum Development: Develop, update, and enhance the nursing curriculum for surgical nursing courses, ensuring that the content is current, evidence-based, and aligned with accreditation standards.
- Student Assessment: Assess students' performance through exams, practical evaluations, assignments, and clinical evaluations. Provide constructive feedback to help them improve their clinical skills and knowledge.
- Mentoring and Advising: Mentor nursing students, particularly those specializing in surgical nursing, offering guidance on academic progress, career development, and research opportunities. Provide advice on the professional role of nurses in surgical settings.
2. Clinical and Applied Surgical Nursing:
- Clinical Practice: In some settings, the Assistant Professor of Surgical Nursing may continue to engage in clinical practice, either in a part-time capacity or as part of the program’s teaching model. This includes roles in preoperative assessments, intraoperative support, and postoperative care management.
- Clinical Collaboration: Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to integrate nursing care into the surgical team. Teach students how to communicate and work effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Patient Care Models: Teach students about patient safety, infection control, managing surgical complications, and applying evidence-based practices in surgical nursing to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
3. Research Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research: Engage in original research focused on areas related to surgical nursing, such as perioperative care, nursing interventions for surgical patients, pain management, or outcomes research related to surgical procedures.
- Research Publication: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, contribute to book chapters, and present at conferences or symposiums to advance knowledge in the field of surgical nursing.
- Grant Writing: Seek research funding by applying for grants through government agencies, healthcare organizations, or private foundations to support research projects in surgical nursing.
- Supervise Student Research: Guide and mentor graduate or doctoral students involved in research related to surgical nursing, assisting with study design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of results.
Desired candidate profile
1. The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2. The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3. The applicant’s grade for the position of Assistant Professor must not be less than a very good grade in all academic stages. Applicants who obtained a good grade in the bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4. The applicant must attach the “equivalency certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
