Roles and responsibilities
1. Teaching Responsibilities:
- Lectures and Seminars: Teach undergraduate, graduate, or medical students in pathology, covering subjects like general pathology, molecular pathology, clinical pathology, and histopathology.
- Clinical Teaching: If in a clinical setting, provide training for students, residents, and fellows in laboratory diagnostics, tissue examination, and autopsies.
- Curriculum Design: Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and lesson plans for pathology-related subjects.
- Student Assessments: Grade assignments, exams, and lab work. Provide constructive feedback on student performance and areas of improvement.
- Mentorship: Advise and mentor students, particularly those involved in research projects or clinical rotations.
2. Research Responsibilities:
- Conduct Research: Perform original research in pathology, focusing on disease mechanisms, molecular pathology, diagnostics, or experimental pathology.
- Publish Findings: Publish research findings in high-impact academic journals and present at conferences.
- Grant Writing: Seek external funding through research grants, and develop proposals to support lab research or clinical studies.
- Supervision of Graduate Students: Oversee and mentor graduate students and residents conducting research projects, helping them with methodology, data interpretation, and scientific writing.
- Collaborations: Collaborate with other researchers, clinicians, and institutions on interdisciplinary research projects.
3. Clinical Responsibilities (if applicable):
- Diagnostic Pathology: Interpret lab results, including tissue biopsies, blood tests, and autopsy findings. Provide reports that guide treatment decisions.
- Case Review and Consultations: Participate in case reviews with clinical teams, providing expertise in diagnosing diseases and guiding treatment options.
- Teaching in Clinical Settings: Teach residents and medical students in hospital pathology departments or outpatient settings, discussing casework and diagnostic procedures.
4. Administrative and Service Responsibilities:
- Departmental Service: Serve on departmental committees, contributing to curriculum planning, faculty development, or departmental initiatives.
- Clinical or Research Advisory Roles: Serve as an advisor for clinical research projects or contribute to hospital or institutional decision-making.
- Public Engagement: Represent the department at professional conferences, workshops, or community outreach programs.
Desired candidate profile
-1 The applicant must be a Saudi national.
-2 The applicant must have obtained all his/her academic qualifications from Saudi universities or recognized universities.
-3 The applicant for the position of Assistant Professor must have a grade of not less than Good in all academic stages. Applicants who have obtained a Good grade in the Bachelor’s stage are exempted from this in cases of academic or research excellence.
-4 The applicant must attach the “Equivalency Certificate” issued by the Ministry of Education for the academic qualifications he/she obtained from non-Saudi universities.
-5 The study system for the applicant in all stages (bachelor's, master's, doctorate) must be full-time and full-time. The applicant must attach the scholarship or assignment decision if he is a government employee.
-6 There must be an extension of specialization between academic degrees (bachelor's, master's, doctorate).
-7 Attach the classification certificate from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (for applicants for health jobs).
-8 The applicant must provide the correct data matching the official documents and the required attachments during the application period.
-9 Attend and pass the personal interviews.
-10 The applicant must be medically fit.
