Job Description
Job Title: Certified CPD Technician Endoscope Reprocessing
Location: Philadelphia PA 19104
Pay Rate: $28/hour
Shift: 8hr Day
Guaranteed Hours: 40
The primary responsibilities include providing onsite support for the reprocessing of flexible endoscopes and related devices and equipment. This position ensures that all reusable surgical supplies instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated inspected assembled packaged sterilized stored inventoried and appropriately tracked in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
Job Functions Essential FunctionsPrimary Responsibilities (80%)
- Reprocess endoscopes per manufacturers IFUs and standards/recommendations (AAMI SGNA AORN CDC).
- Maintain inventories of endoscopic and reprocessing equipment and supplies.
- Perform safety checks to verify proper equipment functioning.
- Ensure compliance with all appropriate documentation requirements.
- Clean disinfect and calibrate scopes or other endoscopic instruments per guidelines.
- Maintain functionality of endoscopic and reprocessing equipment and coordinate repairs as needed.
- Understand and reference AAMI standards as they apply to scope reprocessing.
Secondary Responsibilities (20%)
- Process and assemble medical supplies equipment and instruments with a productivity measure of at least 80%.
- Operate automated washers ultrasonic washers and sterilizers per guidelines.
- Transport soiled medical instruments/devices appropriately.
- Inspect instrumentation and equipment for cleanliness defects and functionality before packaging.
- Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument tray processing and associated documentation.
- Utilize the SPM Instrument Tracking System for all work assignments.
- Ensure HighLevel Disinfection/Sterilization (HLD/S) items are processed correctly and validated with documentation.
- Distribute HLD/S items to maintain integrity and document as necessary.
- Ensure patientspecific case cart needs are met with complete and correct items.
- Maintain effective communication regarding workflow equipment issues and safety concerns.
- Attend staff meetings and departmental inservices.
- Adhere to safety programs and appropriate dress codes.
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Experience with scope reprocessing Required
- At least 2 years of experience in scope reprocessing and central supply or O.R. processing Preferred
- Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER): Issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) Required within 18 months of hire.
- Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST): Issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred upon hire.
- Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT): Issued by the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) preferred upon hire.
- Basic computer literacy Required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Required
