Job Description

Roles and responsibilities


Provide leadership of the day-to-day operations of the reception desk and guest service team.
Develop ability to work without constant direct supervision and remain at assigned post for extended periods of time.
Ensure you are knowledgeable of all spa services, products and treatments so that you can train spa therapists under your control.
Ensure spa team members are aware of company health and safety procedures; making sure you report any observed safety issues or accidents to spa management.
Ideally with a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management.
Minimum 2 years of work experience in Hotel operations.
Good problem-solving, administrative, and interpersonal skills are a must.
1. Team Leadership and Supervision:
Managing a team of fitness instructors, personal trainers, and other staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
Assigning tasks and setting schedules for team members, ensuring sufficient coverage for fitness classes, personal training sessions, and other services.
Providing guidance and support to the team, including mentoring new instructors or staff and helping with ongoing professional development.
Conducting regular meetings with the fitness team to discuss goals, performance, new initiatives, and client feedback.
2. Program Development and Coordination:
Developing and implementing fitness programs and group exercise classes that meet the needs and goals of the members.
Offering personalized fitness plans or advice to clients, often working closely with personal trainers to create specialized workout routines.
Ensuring that the fitness programs align with the facility’s mission and objectives, while adapting them based on client feedback or trends.
Overseeing the planning and execution of special events, fitness challenges, workshops, or promotions.
3. Staff Training and Development:
Training new hires and conducting regular professional development opportunities for team members (e.g., new exercise techniques, equipment usage, customer service skills).
Ensuring that all fitness staff are up to date with certifications and qualifications, including CPR, first aid, and any other required credentials.
Conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback to help team members grow in their roles.
Encouraging team members to set personal goals for improving their skills and performance.


Desired candidate profile

Health and Safety:

  • Ensuring that the fitness facility complies with health and safety regulations, including safe equipment use and proper emergency procedures.
  • Providing staff and members with clear guidelines on how to prevent injury, including stretching techniques and proper form.
  • Overseeing the sanitation and cleanliness of the gym, especially in high-touch areas and equipment.

Skills and Qualities Required:

  • Leadership and Team Management: The ability to inspire and lead a diverse group of fitness professionals while maintaining a positive and supportive environment.
  • Fitness Knowledge and Expertise: A solid understanding of exercise physiology, fitness techniques, and training principles.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members, clients, and management.
  • Customer Service: A client-first mindset, with the ability to listen to and address the needs and concerns of members.
  • Organizational Skills: The ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities efficiently, including scheduling, program development, and team coordination.
  • Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Ability to resolve conflicts or challenges that arise, whether it's with team members or clients.
  • Motivational Skills: The ability to motivate both clients and staff to reach their fitness goals or improve performance.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust programs or strategies based on member feedback, trends, or industry changes.
