Job Summary:
The Dietitian is responsible for ensuring the nutritional needs of patients within a stateoperated hospital facility are met through the development and implementation of dietary care plans nutritional counseling and monitoring of food service operations. This role requires specialized knowledge of dietetics principles institutional management and the ability to effectively collaborate with physicians healthcare personnel and patients. The Dietitian 3 operates under the direct supervision of the Medical Director exercising independent judgment in applying dietetics principles and adapting alternatives to address individual patient needs.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor food service operations to ensure compliance with nutritional and safety standards.
- Assess patients nutritional needs diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement individualized dietary care plans.
- Provide nutritional counseling and education to patients and staff on nutritional principles dietary plans diet modifications and food selection and preparation.
- Consult with physicians and other healthcare personnel to determine patients nutritional needs and dietary restrictions.
- Document diet histories assessments charts and progress notes.
- Plan menus and oversee personnel in the preparation and service of modified and regular diets.
- Conduct food service and/or nutritionrelated training programs.
- Interact effectively with the treatment team medical and administrative staff and patients.
Required Qualifications:
- Specialized knowledge of the principles techniques and terminology of modern dietetics and institutional management gained through experience.
- Working knowledge of modern methods materials and equipment used in quantity food service and resource conservation.
