Troubleshooting and Repair: Identify problems and faults with equipment or systems, using diagnostic tools and techniques to troubleshoot and fix issues quickly and effectively. This could range from repairing machinery parts to recalibrating electronic components.
Installation and Setup: Some technicians may be responsible for installing new systems, machinery, or equipment and ensuring they are properly configured for use.
Monitoring and Testing
System Monitoring: Regularly check equipment, machinery, or systems to ensure they are functioning correctly and report any issues. This could include monitoring performance indicators or conducting regular inspections.
Testing Equipment: Run tests on machinery or equipment to assess its performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure it meets safety and operational standards. This may involve running diagnostic software, checking parameters, or manually inspecting components.
Documentation and Reporting
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of maintenance activities, repairs, and system tests to ensure accurate records are kept. This is often needed for compliance purposes.
Reporting Issues: Document and report on issues that could not be resolved immediately, making recommendations for future repairs or upgrades.
Inventory Management: Track and maintain an inventory of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for repairs and maintenance.
Customer Service (For Service Technicians)
Client Interaction: For technicians who work directly with clients, customer service skills are important. This includes explaining technical problems in an understandable way and providing clear instructions on system operations.
On-Site Support: Provide on-site technical support to customers, ensuring that issues are resolved professionally and promptly.
Safety and Compliance
Follow Safety Protocols: Adhere to safety guidelines and protocols to ensure safe working conditions, particularly when handling electrical equipment, machinery, or hazardous materials.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that equipment and systems are in compliance with industry standards, regulations, and laws. This may include meeting health and safety standards or environmental regulations.
