Job Description
Piping Design & Drafting:
- Prepare and modify piping layouts isometric drawings section views and 3D models using AutoCAD and other design software.
- Develop and design piping systems for both new construction and modification projects ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry codes.
- Create material takeoffs (MTOs) and piping bill of materials (BOMs) based on design specifications.
- Coordinate with project engineers to ensure that all piping design elements meet project requirements and are properly documented.
Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (mechanical engineers structural engineers construction teams) to ensure that all design elements are integrated and feasible.
- Work closely with the procurement team to ensure the accurate specification of materials and equipment.
- Review and provide input on piping design drawings during project reviews to identify design conflicts and improve efficiency.
3D Design & Modeling:
- Utilize AutoCAD 3D or similar software to generate detailed piping models that integrate with other system designs.
- Ensure the optimization of piping systems and layouts to minimize conflicts and ensure the most efficient use of space and materials.
- Assist with the conversion of 2D designs into 3D models to support construction and installation activities.
Design Reviews & Compliance:
- Conduct internal design reviews to ensure all piping systems comply with relevant codes and standards (ASME ANSI API etc.).
- Implement design changes as required ensuring that all updates are properly documented.
- Ensure that designs comply with safety regulations environmental standards and quality control measures.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation including drawings specifications and technical reports.
- Organize and archive design files and ensure all documentation is consistent accurate and easily accessible.
- Provide designrelated support to the project management team contractors and clients.
Supervision & Mentorship:
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior piping designers and drafters ensuring that they follow best practices and meet project standards.
- Oversee the work of junior team members ensuring that design work aligns with overall project goals and deadlines.
