Job Description

The TUAC Secretariat is looking for a Policy Advisor with responsibility for a broad set of policy issues including responsible business conduct and corporate governance. The selected person will report to the General Secretary of the TUAC.

Main Responsibilities

Policy analysis and research

  • Develop and draft statements and position papers in close cooperation with affiliates to influence policy formulation at the OECD;
  • Draft policy papers and prepare analytical reports;
  • Prepare briefings and speaking notes for the General Secretary;
  • Contribute to the development of practical tools including toolkits guidance and training materials to build the capacity of trade unions;

Liaison representation and outreach

  • Manage and coordinate the TUAC Working Group on Multinational Enterprises;
  • Represent TUAC and coordinate trade union participation in relevant OECD Committees Working Parties as well as other events and meetings;
  • Work closely with TUAC affiliates other trade unions and international trade union partner organisations;
  • Liaise with the relevant OECD Directorates Member countries permanent delegations and other international institutions;
  • Draft webstories blogs and other social media providing TUAC key policy messages and/or analysis of OECD work of interest to trade unions;
  • Support TUAC communications by identifying interesting research and events and help with political messaging.

Qualifications :

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • An advanced university degree in economics or a related discipline.

Professional Background

  • At least five years of experience in analysis research and policy advocacy;
  • Experience working in or closely with the trade union movement;
  • Excellent knowledge of issues relating to responsible business conduct and in particular the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises labour rights due diligence processes and corporate governance.

Core Competencies

  • OECD staff are expected to demonstrate behaviours aligned to six core competencies which will be assessed as part of this hiring processes: Vision and Strategy (Level 2); Enable People (Level 1); Ethics and Integrity (Level 2); Collaboration and Horizontality (Level 2); Achieve Results (Level 2); Innovate and Embrace Change (Level 2). 
  • There are three possible levels for each competency. The level for each competency is determined according to the specific needs of each job role and its associated grade.
