Job Description:
- Thermal Design and Analysis:
- Conduct thermal analysis using tools like ANSYS SolidWorks and CFD software.
- Apply principles of heat conduction convection and radiation to optimize heatsink designs for effective thermal management.
- Estimate temperature rise and performance based on power dissipation and heatsink efficiency.
- Heatsink Design:
- Design 3D models of heatsinks tailored to specific applications optimizing for space and thermal performance.
- Select appropriate materials (aluminum copper alloys or composites) for heat dissipation weight and manufacturability.
- Ensure mechanical integrity of designs to withstand handling and environmental factors.
- Prototyping and Testing:
- Collaborate with manufacturers to create prototypes managing material selection fabrication and assembly.
- Perform thermal and mechanical testing to validate the heatsinks performance and durability.
- Refine designs based on test results balancing performance cost and manufacturability.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with electrical engineers product designers and manufacturing teams to meet product requirements.
- Implement customerspecific thermal management needs including form factor noise and cooling specifications.
- Provide design support during the manufacturing phase to ensure specifications are met.
- Simulation and Optimization:
- Perform CFD and FEA simulations to predict airflow heat dissipation and structural integrity.
- Conduct parametric optimization to refine design parameters and enhance thermal performance.
- Ensure the heatsink design can endure mechanical stresses such as vibrations and thermal cycling.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Create detailed design documentation including drawings specifications and simulation results.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on thermal performance offering insights into design efficacy across various scenarios.
- Cost and Manufacturing Considerations:
- Design for manufacturability ensuring designs are costeffective and manufacturable through standard processes like extrusion stamping or CNC machining.
- Coordinate with suppliers for material sourcing and ensure feasibility within budget constraints.
- Manage design costs while maintaining high performance and manufacturability standards.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in thermal management technologies and manufacturing techniques.
- Explore innovative solutions including integrating heat pipes phase change materials or advanced surface treatments for better heat dissipation.
- Sustainability and Compliance:
- Design energyefficient heatsinks that comply with environmental regulations (e.g. RoHS WEEE).
- Promote sustainability in design focusing on material recyclability and waste reduction during manufacturing.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks CATIA ANSYS Fluent (CFD) and FEA tools for thermal and mechanical simulations.
- Strong knowledge of thermal management principles heat transfer and heat sink applications.
- Indepth understanding of material science including thermal conductivity and heat capacities
- Effective communication skills with good spoken & written English and Mandarin.
Familiarity with manufacturing processes like extrusion diecasting and CNC machining for heatsink production.
